Everything You Need To Know About Our NEW Haircare Range

Having been years in the making, we’re so excited to finally unveil our latest venture into haircare. Whether you’ve already tried it or are yet to experience the natural magic, here’s everything you need to know about our NEW, natural* and silicone-free Super Shower Power Shampoo and Conditioner…

The Inspiration

“There were a few reasons why we decided to branch into haircare but for me, the main one was that there was a gap in the market for a natural shampoo and conditioner which really delivered impressive results,” says our founder, Nicola. “Going natural shouldn’t have to be a compromise, so our in-house and super knowledgeable product development team have been busy whipping up and revising lots of different formulations,” she adds. “Other must-haves for our haircare was that it would also care for your scalp since a healthy scalp is a must for healthy hair. Lastly, it had to be sustainably made.”

Another pretty huge factor was that a shampoo and conditioner is one of our most requested products from our loyal fans both online and in-store. So, since NEOM is all about our customers and community we took the challenge to grow our product line up. Launching haircare also meant you could all enjoy a full NEOM wellbeing experience from top to toe. After the big success of our 5-star Super Shower Power Body Cleanser, we knew we wanted to use this same energising scent (of 100% natural spearmint, rosemary and eucalyptus) and give you the chance to really supercharge your morning shower, whilst also making the often-mundane chore of hair washing an invigorating and multi-sensorial experience.

The Making

Like with all NEOM products, we’ve harnessed the powers of natural and naturally-derived ingredients to not only mean our haircare is kinder to your hair, but also kinder to our planet. “Much like skincare, we’re all becoming increasingly more aware of the ingredients in our haircare, so we knew we had to get this just right,” says our Senior Product Manager, Lydia. “We looked for ingredients that could really benefit all hair types and textures and have spent over two years working on different combinations. Not only this, we’re also big on sourcing sustainable ingredients so this was another factor for us to consider. We don’t cut corners and really think about every detail – from the texture and fragrance right through to the packaging. In fact, we tested over 30 different versions until we got it exactly right.”

The Ingredients

“Natural ingredients are so much trickier to work with as the biggest challenge for us is that consumers tend to look for natural and eco-friendly products but are used to the sophisticated textures and performance of synthetic cosmetics,” says Lydia. “We aim to strike the perfect balance between natural chemistry that is also highly effective. Another hurdle is the supply of natural ingredients can often be trickier as it’s dependent on the weather or sustainability. We’re constantly moving with these changes to ensure biodiversity isn’t impacted.”

So what ingredients are actually in the NEW Super Shower Power Shampoo and Conditioner? Inside our shampoo, you’ll find algae extract, algae oil, apple seed oil and plant protein which all help to give a thorough cleanse to both your hair and scalp but have also been sourced and created with low environmental footprint and in an eco-friendly manner. As it’s sulphate-free, you may experience a slightly different lather than you’re used to. “The texture is lighter than you may expect, but this doesn’t mean we’ve compromised on giving your hair a thorough cleanse,” says Lydia. “We’ve prioritised efficacious ingredients and skipped any synthetic thickeners.” Similarly, our conditioner also welcomes plenty of natural goodness such as coconut and almond oil, shea butter and a brassica and amino acid complex to help strengthen your hair whilst also boosting softness and shine. In true NEOM style, both have then been infused with our signature energy-boosting scent of 100% natural spearmint, rosemary and eucalyptus to leave your hair smelling divine and really awaken the senses.

The Results

After we’d nailed the formula, we did a blind consumer study on 112 people to find out their honest thoughts. We made sure we had a true mix of hair types and textures so included everything from coloured and dyed, to thin and fine, thick and curly and afro and Asian. They trialled both our shampoo and conditioner for two weeks and we saw impressive results across the board. Feedback was that the shampoo left their hair feeling fresh and clean whilst being gentle on the scalp and they loved the powerful, invigorating and long-lasting scent. After just one use of our conditioner, they felt their hair was silky smooth and they enjoyed the overall experience.

How To Use Yours

Sold? We thought you might be. For best results apply the shampoo to your scalp and roots and gently massage in before smoothing through your hair in a downward motion. Avoid rubbing your hair together between your hands to avoid breakage. Rinse thoroughly and apply the conditioner – focusing mainly on the mid-lengths to ends. Leave to work its magic whilst you cleanse your body (with our much-loved Body Cleanser) and inhale the energising scent of spearmint, rosemary and eucalyptus. Rinse well and enjoy the long-lasting scent.
